Pop over to the Contacts page, add your details and I will get back to you to arrange a date for you and your team to learn more about flood resilient properties.
Elevation is the second best option for flood mitigation after building outside of the flood zone but there are a number of ways that architects can incorporate flood designs into new and existing properties. Elevation is not always an option especially if catering for disabled access and planning height restrictions.
This course will help you find other solutions based on flood type, duration and warning times. They may include automatic or manual barriers aesthetically integrated into your design to become “invisible” when not in use or it could be floodproof curtain walling in a modern office block setting.
Retrofitting is much harder as you will need to understand all the potential water ingress points of the existing property (above and below ground), but that is where this course and iREACT Consulting can come to your assistance.
Book now for an informative hour’s session on all matters dealing with flood mitigation for the built environment, regardless of the type of property or your client’s needs.
COURSE CONTENT & LEARNINGS
“Enabling new and retrofit designs for flood mitigation of the built environment to ensure the properties are suitable for insurance cover.
- Learn about flood types and how they have different impacts on buildings. Onset times, depth, and duration of the flood will lead to different solutions.
- Become aware of strategies for wet & dry floodproofing. Keeping the flood waters out of a property is ideal and all new properties should be designed to do so. Retrofit is complicated and difficult so a combined wet & dry scenario is often the best choice.
- Solutions that are suitable for all property types, whether new or retrofit designs.
- Discover new materials and solutions suitable for your next design, which means you are not just limited to elevation propositions.
Retroffiting a property to be more resilient to flooding is not just about products. It is also very dependent on quality installation practices and attention to detail, as evidenced in the montage below
Whilst you are here have a look at the PRODUCT dropdown tab for barrier types and ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) and click on the carousel on the home page to discover Dragonboard (waterproof & fireproof replacement for Gypsum Boards) and the Flood Adaptive Platform which rises automatically on the incoming flood.
